Op-Ed: In the Future, Robots Will Supplement Our Caregiver Workforce

By the year 2030, the county’s population of residents age 60 and up will double to nearly 1 million. And from the year 2010 to 2060, the number of residents age 85 and up will increase a whopping 427 percent. This growth rate outpaces the generations below it, which means we will soon have a shortage of caregivers in San Diego.

In an op-ed for San Diego Magazine, SDSCF Founder, CEO & President Bob Kelly answers the question “What Will San Diego Look like in 2069?” with a bold prediction: some aspects of caregiving will be performed by robots.
