San Diego Seniors Community Foundation’s Vision for 2026 and Beyond

How a community treats its older adults says everything about the future it is building.

At San Diego Seniors Community Foundation (SDSCF), this belief guides every decision we make. Aging should never mean isolation, vulnerability, or being left behind. It should reflect longevity, dignity, connection, and a community that understands its responsibility to those who helped shape it.

As we look ahead to 2026, our vision is grounded in one central commitment: ensuring that longer lives are matched with stronger systems of support. The year ahead builds on a period of growth, protection, and system strengthening that demonstrates what is possible when longevity is intentionally planned for, not passively managed. The progress made in 2025 was the result of intentional investment, trusted partnerships, and a shared commitment to doing better by our seniors—not just for today, but for the decades ahead.

Reflecting on 2025 and the Momentum You Helped Build

Before looking forward, it is important to recognize what was achieved together in 2025. Across San Diego County and neighboring regions, SDSCF expanded its reach, deepened collaboration, and strengthened the infrastructure seniors rely on every day.

In 2025, our work focused on connection, financial protection, innovation, and capacity building. The impact was measurable and meaningful, and laid the groundwork for the year ahead.

2025 Year in Review: Your Impact in Numbers

In 2025, you, alongside our donors, partners, and supporters, strengthened the systems seniors rely on across San Diego County and beyond. Together, we expanded protections against fraud alongside our partners at Wells Fargo and the FBI, deepened connection for older adults and other generations, and invested in the long-term capacity of senior centers and community partners. From reaching more than 1,000 seniors through fraud-prevention and digital safety efforts to expanding No Senior Alone programming and welcoming 36 new partners into the SDSCF ecosystem, your support helped build a stronger, more connected future for aging adults.

And this momentum reaches far beyond individual programs. Our collective efforts in 2025 reinforced networks, sparked innovation, and ensured that seniors in urban, rural, and underserved communities were not left behind.

In 2025, SDSCF strengthened the ecosystem supporting older adults through the following outcomes:

Looking Ahead: 2026 as a Year of Integration and Impact

The vision for 2026 builds on this momentum with a clear focus on integration, scale, and long-term resilience to ensure that longer lives are supported by stronger, more connected systems over time.

SDSCF is committed to moving from strong programs to strong systems. That means connecting what works, reinforcing what lasts, and ensuring that a senior’s well-being does not depend on chance, geography, or access to information.

Longevity Clubs and Aging Well Over Time

Longevity is not only about living longer. It is about ensuring those added years are lived with strength, connection, and independence.

SDSCF will soon launch Longevity Clubs across San Diego County—hybrid spaces that combine the energy of a gym with the belonging of a community center. Designed for people who want to age well, these clubs help individuals stay strong, sharp, and socially connected, rather than simply getting by. Developed in partnership with existing community assets, Longevity Clubs represent a proactive approach to aging, supporting resilience, engagement, and connection throughout every stage of the aging journey.

Financial Security and Digital Protection

Financial exploitation remains one of the fastest-growing threats to senior independence. In 2026, SDSCF will continue expanding fraud prevention education while strengthening partnerships that allow for broader reach, faster response, and deeper trust.

By working alongside law enforcement, financial institutions, and community organizations, SDSCF will continue equipping seniors and caregivers with practical tools to recognize scams, respond effectively, and regain confidence in an increasingly complex digital world.

Connection That Reaches Every Senior

Isolation does not end when the holidays pass, and neither does our response.

SDSCF will continue expanding No Senior Alone as a year-round framework for connection. This includes sustained outreach to homebound seniors, veterans, and those living in rural or underserved communities, as well as continued investment in culturally responsive programming that reflects how seniors want to connect.

Strengthening Senior Centers as Community Anchors

Senior centers are more than physical spaces. They are critical anchors for community life.

SDSCF will continue strengthening senior centers as modern, flexible hubs that support nutrition, movement, learning, and social connection. Building on the success of the Empower Grant program, the focus will expand toward long-term capacity, shared systems, and financial sustainability.

Innovation in Mobility and Access

Transportation remains a key determinant of independence.

In 2026, SDSCF will continue advancing mobility solutions informed by feasibility studies and community feedback, while remaining grounded in the practical needs seniors face today.

Intergenerational Engagement and Shared Futures

Aging does not occur in isolation from younger generations. In 2026, SDSCF will continue expanding intergenerational initiatives that foster mutual learning, creativity, companionship, and shared responsibility.

Guided by Data, Grounded in Community

SDSCF will continue using data, community assessments, and lived experience to guide advocacy, funding decisions, and program design to ensure solutions are aligned with real needs and built to last.

Be Part of the Movement

This vision for 2026 is rooted in a simple belief: every older adult deserves not just a long life, but a life lived with safety, dignity, and connection.

When seniors are protected from harm, when they have places to gather, ways to stay mobile, and people who show up for them, the impact reaches far beyond any single program. It touches families. It strengthens neighborhoods. It shapes what longevity looks like for future generations.

The work ahead is about more than services. It is about ensuring dignity, connection, and belonging remain part of aging in San Diego, today and for decades to come.

For 2026 and beyond, we invite you to continue walking alongside us. Your support, partnership, and belief in this mission help make it possible for seniors across our region to age with security, purpose, and sustained quality of life.

Together, we can build a future where growing older is not something to fear, but something held with care, respect, and community.
