Video: No Senior Alone Initiative Ends Year on a High Note

San Diego Seniors Community Foundation wrapped up 2020 with a round of 13 grants to community senior centers to bring joy to isolated seniors across San Diego County during an especially difficult holiday season. Chief Programs and Community Engagement Officer Joe Gavin spoke to KUSI’s Jason Austell about the foundation’s No Senior Alone initiative to combat social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the holiday grant program, SDSCF engaged community partners to host socially-distanced celebrations, deliver holiday gifts, and find other innovative ways to spread joy while building connections. This follows an earlier round of $200,000 in grants to fund larger projects led by nonprofit agencies working to mitigate the impacts of isolation on the seniors they serve.
